Our onsite aeration assessment services allow our biologists to measure the dissolved oxygen levels throughout the waterbody to accurately assess your aeration needs. Additionally, our biologists will use these numbers to determine what diffusers to use, placement of the diffusers and your aeration system to strategically improve water quality.

Aquatic Biologists, Inc. strongly believes in customizing each diffused aeration system we install to meet the unique characteristics of the individual waterbody.

Bottom diffused aeration systems are comprised of four components:

  1. Diffusers
  2. Air Hose
  3. Compressor(s)
  4. Compressor Cabinet with Cooling Fan

In addition to sales, we also install and service all types of systems in Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

Water Circulators are available where directional flow or winter de-icing is needed.

Aqua Bio

Each Aqua Bio diffuser utilizes a specially manufactured Porex tubing to create the formation of fine micro bubbles (50 - 500 microns) in a 360 degree radius around the entire length of tubing. Stainless steel plate allows for extended life and protection of the diffuser tubing while maintaining the diffuser above the soft sediment.

AquaAir

AquaAir™ provides ponds and lakes with superior aeration, circulation, and de-stratification. Dissolved oxygen (DO) levels are increased throughout the entire water column with the use of bottom-mounted diffusers. The micro-bubbles entrain bottom water and synergistically lift it to the surface where atmospheric oxygen is absorbed and then transferred throughout the water column.

Robust-Aire

Robust-Aire diffusers create more water flow to aerate your pond. Diffusers are designed to provide a fine air bubble with the least amount of pressure. The base is made of thick HDPE plastic and a locking fill plug allows you to fill it with pea gravel or other weighted substrate.

It has a raised design that keeps the diffusers performing at an optimal level above the pond bottom. A durable, bolted, strain relief attachment ensures that the weighted tubing will not become detached during installation or maintenance. A check valve with Viton seals keeps water from entering the tubing when the system is not operating.

Compressors

ABI utilizes rotary vane compressors in most applications.  These compressors are extremely reliable and can easily last 20 years with simple routine maintenance. Due to the efficiency of our AquaBio diffusers, we can use a ¼ hp vane compressor in applications where a ½ or even ¾ hp was needed 5 years ago.  This dramatically cuts down on power consumption and noise levels from the unit.

In deeper water situations, rocking piston compressors can also be used, where higher pressure is needed.

Directional flow aeration equipment draws oxygen from above the water's surface through an air-intake tube powered by a submerged electric motor. The oxygen enters the propeller chamber, where it is mixed rapidly by a specially designed propeller. The propeller breaks down the aspirated oxygen into fine bubbles while mixing them with water entering through the protected intake chamber. These bubbles are then thrust via the propeller into the water, providing horizontal circulation of oxygen.

Aquatic Biologists, Inc. utilizes both Kasco Marine Circulators & AquaMaster UltiMax Air injectors.

Kasco Circulators/De-Icers

Water movers are great for shallow ponds where diffused aeration is inefficient. Moving water insures that otherwise stagnant areas receive oxygenated surface waters. The moving water is also a deterrent to unwanted algae growth.

Stagnant water contributes to rapid mosquito reproduction, including those that may carry the West Nile Virus. Creating a stream environment helps limit mosquito reproduction and thereby helps control the overall population of mosquitoes in your area.

Kascos can also be used to reduce organic sediment by moving oxygenated water toward the bottom of the pond. This replenishes the bottom oxygen content, and encouraging the growth of microbial organisms. Kascos can also be used to keep open water during the winter. They are great for around boat docks.

An optional dock mount is available to attach directly to a boat dock or a treated 4x4 spike driven into the pond bottom.  We also offer a custom stainless steel spike for areas with sediment accumulation. They can also be suspended from a float.

AquaMaster Ultimax

This series of aerators provides horizontal circulation of water and oxygen at or below the surface. Powered by an exclusive submerged electric motor, the specifically designed propeller circulates water directionally. Available in mixer, aspirator, surface float, or bottom fixed base versions.

Wind Powered Aerator

Although not nearly as efficient as diffused air systems, windmill aerators are a great option for remote ponds. The windmill can be located hundreds of feet from the pond, allowing placement in the windiest location. Double diaphragm windmills are also available, which increase windmill efficiency by 240 percent. Consult with an ABI representative before utilizing a windmill to determine if this application fills the aeration needs.

Ice Domes

Winter aeration will maintain open water. This may pose a problem to people or animals falling through the ice. Ice domes solve this problem by allowing the diffused air to escape up through the dome vent. This allows ice to form around the dome. Ice domes may also discourage geese from staying around too long in the fall.
