Aquatic herbicides are chemicals
specifically formulated for use in water to kill or control aquatic
plants. Aquatic herbicides are sprayed directly onto floating or
emergent aquatic plants or are applied to the water in either a
liquid or pellet form. Aquatic Biologists, Inc. carries only EPA
registered herbicides. On average, each of the products we carry
has gone through 10 years of research to determine its toxicity
level to humans, fish, wildlife, and the environment before being
approved by the EPA. Unsure what to use? See our Weed Id Guide,
Do-It-Yourself form or call us at 800-442-6648.
There are three
different categories of aquatic herbicides; systemic, contact
and selective. Systemic herbicides are capable of killing the
entire plant. Contact herbicides cause the parts of the plant in
contact with the herbicide to die back, leaving the roots alive and
able to regrow. Non-selective, broad spectrum herbicides will
generally affect all plants that they come in contact with.
Selective herbicides will affect only some plants (often dicots -
broad leafed plants like Eurasian watermilfoil (Myriophyllum
spicatum) will be affected by selective herbicides whereas monocots
like Brazilian elodea (Egeria densa) may not be affected). Most
aquatic plants are monocots.
Effective against a broad
range of aquatic plants, especially for coontail, and
pondweeds (curly leaf, sago, etc.)
Proven control of aquatic
plants including curly leaf pondweed. Excellent for spot
treatments, & moving water.
Controls both submersed and emergent weeds in and
around ponds, ditches, wetlands, canals, lakes and other
Delivers fast and
selective control of invasive and nuisance floating plants such as
watermeal, water lettuce, duckweed and giant salvinia.
For use around piers and docks to
control most weeds and algae. Rapid control. Works well on wild
celery & resistant algae forms.
Effective on woody plants including purple loosestrife, water
willows, cottonwood, poison ivy, water lily, and Eurasian water
Renovate® Max G is the first dual-action
herbicide, combining triclopyr and 2,4-D, for the ultimate
broadleaf aquatic weed control.
Controls a wide range of emerged annual and
perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds.
Restore Liquid with fluridone is a selective, root
killing, systemic herbicide designed to target invasive species and
Klear is a liquid systemic herbicide containing glyphosate.
Provides control for many aquatic plants & emergent weeds
A Ready-To-Use formula that controls most
troublesome pond weeds including Duckweed. No mixing, no need for
spray equipment or a boat.
Sonar Q is the fastest
releasing Sonar pellet available, providing applicators and pond
owners with a quick, easy-to-apply formulation.
Slow dissipation allows
extended contact with target plants. Prevents dilution in rapid
water while maintaining a high degree of efficacy.
Designed as an easier to use formulation
that lasts longer in the water providing faster knockdown
