Habitat
Product Label SDS Sheet

Habitat Herbicide controls undesirable emergent, shoreline and woody wetland aquatic vegetation in and around lakes, rivers, ponds, drainage ditches, canals, reservoirs, terrestrial, marine, and seasonal wet areas.

Number One Pick for Phragmites

Habitat Herbicide is specifically developed for use in sensitive aquatic environments, the herbicide helps stem the tide against the invasion of undesirable aquatic plants and restore aquatic environments to their desirable condition. Habitat Herbicide uses less active ingredient and breaks down quickly, yet is highly effective.

Full Kill Generally in 1 - 2 Weeks

Treated plants stop growing soon after spray application. Necrosis (the death of living cells or tissues) becomes evident about two weeks after treatment with Habitat Herbicide. Plants stop growing in 1 - 3 days after treatment but visual results (i.e. browning) will not occur until approximately 2 weeks after treatment. As weeds die they drop to the bottom and decompose. Full breakdown can take weeks to months. Final death of the treated weeds dependent on size, species treated and weather conditions at application. Habitat provides a more effective root kill when compared to alternative glysophate products.

Imazapyr is effective at low-volume rates and does not contain heavy metals, organochlorides or phosphates, making it safe to humans and livestock. Habitat provides intelligent weed control by affecting specific enzymes found only in plants - not in humans, animals, birds, fish or insects.

How Habitat Herbicide Works

The herbicide is absorbed through leaves, stems and roots, translocating rapidly throughout the plant, which causes the weed to stop growing and die as its nutrient reserves are exhausted.

Habitat features a low amount of active ingredient and breaks down quickly in the environment Habitat Herbicide requires the use of a spray adjuvant when applying on post-emergent vegetation.

Application

Habitat herbicide is applied using low volume spray techniques, which results in more effective and efficacious control and often reduces the need for multiple applications. Applicators must carefully follow label guidelines in order to ensure effective control of target weed species and reduce the possibility of any off-target impact.

*Consult Label for Exact Doses & Important Application Directions.

For Best Results

For best results, Habitat should be applied as early as possible after weeds appear or when they are actively growing. Best results occur when applied in spring and summer when waters are 55ºF or above, less material is required and a longer weed free period will result. Contact time with weeds should be at least 3 - 4 hours.

Habitat will not control submerged plants. As with glyphosate products, follow-up applications may be needed once it can be determined if any target plants were missed.

Notices

Extreme caution and planning should be taken when applying Habitat herbicide. It is possible for Habitat to kill adjacent trees and vegetation in the area applied and sometimes downstream of the treated area.

*All pesticides can be harmful to health and the environment if misused. Read the label and follow directions. Consult with your local regulatory agency before applying herbicides and algaecides to public waters. There are herbicides from other states that are either not licensed in Wisconsin or Illinois, or are not recommended by ABI.

A WI DNR Aquatic Plant Control Permit or DATCP Fish Farm License is required in WI in order to apply algaecides or herbicides. In addition ponds and lakes with overflows not contained on the property are required to obtain a WPDES permit. Illinois Residents are required to obtiain NPDES permits through the Illinois EPA.

In order to apply chemicals in liquid form within Wisconsin, the applicator must be licensed with the State.

Recommendations of pesticide or treatments for specific algae or aquatic plants are provided for general information purposes only - no warranties are expressed or implied.

* We do not ship EPA registered Algaecides or Herbicides to the following states:

Alaska - California - Connecticut - Delaware -  Hawaii - New Hampshire - New Jersey - New York - Maine - Maryland - Massachusetts  -Oregon - Rhode Island - Washington State - Vermont (for additional information about these restrictions please see shipping or terms and conditions).
